The beauty of different

Karen Walrond, a beautiful photographer and a writer (originally from Trinidad & Tobago, but currently living in Houston, Texas with her husband and daughter)  has just launched her inspiring book:

How wonderful to have a book that celebrates individuality and difference, there is definately not enough of that in life and i think it is high time that it is something we nurture. It is absolutely true that:
" We love people who are truly individual even though we spend so much of our lives trying so hard to fit in...i think the reason we love different so much is that it is beautiful..." In essence "...the things that make us different are, whether we know it or not, often the things the make us beautiful" Karen Walrond

Read a little about the book in Karen's own words from her website/blog:

What if you had a superpower?
Because you just might.

"In a society where we are constantly bombarded with messages on how to think, how to feel, and how to look, it can be very easy to fall into the mindset that we are not enough, that we somehow fail as individuals. The truth is that those aspects of ourselves that make us individuals are actually the sources of own beauty. Enter The Beauty of Different, a chronicle of beautiful imagery and portraiture which both provoke and tell a story, combined with written observations and essays on the ways in which we find people who display individuality and uniqueness intriguing, even as we all collectively strive to be more like these people every day. Divided into chapters focused on the many ways individuality or uniqueness can manifest itself, the book includes insightful commentary, and features both written and visual portraits of individuals who embody the major characteristics described in each chapter. These are ordinary people, who are really actually extraordinary -- and therefore immensely beautiful as a result.

This book is designed to connect, inspire and encourage you to reconsider those attributes that make you unique, and reframe them as characteristics of distinction -- maybe even your superpowers."
